to Skill It, a community that celebrate the joys and pleasures of living a handmade, home-cooked life. Skill It was founded by Leah Kent when she said out loud to her sister, “I wish I was a Home Ec teacher!”
See, we believe that traditional, everyday talents, like cooking and sewing, remain essential for living well today. They lead us to happiness and satisfaction; they make us feel connected and nourished from the inside out.
We believe that working with your hands feeds your soul and kindles your spirit.
To live out this mission, to bring Home Ec back to life with a modern twist and lots of soul, we are constantly coming up with things to support and inspire your own pursuit of a vibrant, happy home.
Season’s Eatings - this is the class that launched Skill It. It celebrates the joy of cooking and eating together as a family and shows you how you can include your little ones more in the kitchen. This is a four-week program filled with delicious recipes and extra activities, like our beloved Dinner Table Conversation Starters. We offer this course quarterly but your membership in our online community lasts a lifetime.
Love for Lunch
Could you use some fresh inspiration for packing lunch everyday for school, work or both? This 10 day program will offer seriously delicious recipes and strategies for getting organized to save you time & money. In addition to great food, we share resources and ideas on planning, prepping, and sharing the work with the whole family.

Skill It Blog – we post recipes, food musings, and our interviews with other food-loving parents in our Feeding Traditions series. We talk about the fun that can be had around the family dinner table and chat about what’s fresh at the local Farmer’s Market. Sometimes we give away awesome stuff, too!

Skill It Newsletter – a weekly dose of delicious inspiration delivered to your email inbox. We are known for giving away handy kitchen printables, recipes, and fun tutorials in these emails. Plus you’ll always be the first to know when classes are announced or new things are happening here at Skill It. (Click on the Banana Bread to sign-up)
