About

Leah KentHello, my name is Leah Kent!

I can’t tell you how happy I am that you have found your way to Skill It and are interested in what we do here. I always knew I would find a way to teach the things I love doing most – those old-fashioned talents like cooking in the kitchen, creating with a sewing machine, or digging in the garden.

I grew up in California and studied at the University of California at Berkeley. My childhood was focused on finding a way to be creative every day. I spent my time teaching myself calligraphy, practicing my cello, sewing my own clothes, developing photos in the darkroom, cooking the family dinner from scratch, and learning every art form under the sun. It is now clear that my destiny was to become a chef-designer-maker-teacher.

Here at Skill It, I get to be the Home Ec teacher I know I was meant to be. I am always on the lookout for a wonderful project, a delicious recipe, and a new way to bring more beauty, meaning, and creativity to the everyday. This is why I try to live a (mostly) handmade, home-cooked life and then share all the best bits of it with you.

I love being able to share this all with you in my writing, photography, weekly newsletter, and e-courses. We are always growing and working to offer you more here at Skill It.

This also means that we are always listening – so if there’s something you’d like to see or a question you’d like to have answered, please reach out and let us know. We love to hear from you…just send us an email, skillithome@gmail{dot}com

Thank you for being part of the Skill It family and spending some of your lovely day with us!

xo
