Season’s Eatings

Season's Eatings Spring 2013

Season’s Eatings is an online class for families filled with delicious recipes, fun activities, and inspiration to create connection with your kids in the kitchen and at the family dinner table.

Working at your own pace, you’ll be preparing kid-tested, delicious and healthy recipes in tune with the flavors and tastes of the season.  Each recipe highlights the techniques and tasks your kids are capable of taking on independently.

In addition to honoring their skills and abilities, working with your kids in the kitchen instills a deeper appreciation and joy around nourishing themselves.

Oct_23_FIMBY_BorschtSeason’s Eatings is more than a class.  It is a community where we celebrate the beauty of food, family and gathering around the table.

Season’s Eatings will guide you towards finding ways, big and small, to include the whole family in putting a nourishing dinner on the table each night.

On this family culinary journey you can cook at your own pace, preparing the dishes on the days that work best for you.  In this month-long course, you’ll receive an email each Monday morning with a Weekly Workbook.

Here is what you can expect in Season’s Eatings:

  • Weekly Workbooks filled with step-by-step dinner recipes
  • Dinner Table Conversation Starters
  • Ideas & inspiration for including little hands in the kitchen
  • Printable recipes & activities you’ll turn to again and again
  • Connection and conversation in our private online Facebook Group

Our Season’s Eatings Community connects and shares in a private Facebook group.  This is the place where you can ask questions, share photos of your kids at work, and rave about the loveliness of your finished dishes.

A wonderful way that we create community is by inviting a featured writer to our table each week. They share their own stories, insights, and traditions of cooking and eating with friends and family.

Here’s what people are saying about Season’s Eatings:

“Leah tapped into something that I needed, and I wonder if many of us have forgotten – food is joyful, often so simple, and since it’s a daily necessity, brings good feelings that can be indulged in every day.”

“We are having so much fun together and will definitely be signing up in the future.”

“My daughter and I (age 4) are having a great time preparing meals together – she enjoys trying all the new things we’ve encountered and all the serious cooking responsibilities she undertakes. Thank you for facilitating this experience!”

“Thank you, thank you, thank you! My daughter and I had a great time cooking our recipes together…she was chopping and eating tons of vegetables with a smile on her face…this program is working!”

Season’s Eatings will give you a toolbox of activities, recipes and inspiration to make this winter a food-filled culinary adventure.  Skill It’s chef, Leah Kent, will show you how to get cooking with your kids and have fun at every step.

Have a Question? It might be answered here!

How old do my children need to be?
A: 4-14 is a good age for cooking with kids, but anyone who likes to cook and try new recipes can get a lot out of the class!

I have teenagers, can I take Season’s Eatings?
A: Yes! The simple nature of our recipes is excellent for teens developing independent skills in the kitchen.

What kind of recipes will we get?
A: Our recipes include mostly whole foods with a mix of proteins, whole grains, and lots of fresh vegetables, dark leafy greens, and fruit. Overall, the food and recipes in Season’s Eatings reflect our belief that dinner can be fresh, simple, prepared with love and shared around a family dinner table.

Our family is Gluten-Free and/or Vegetarian – will this class work for us?
A: Many, though not all, of the recipes in Season’s Eatings are gluten-free and vegetarian. Those that do contain gluten typically call for ingredients that can be easily replaced with a gluten-free substitute.

How do I get the information in the class?
A: Each Monday morning you’ll get an email with everything you need for the class. There will be a link to download a PDF of the Weekly Workbook that contains the recipes and activities.

What technology do I need to participate in Season’s Eatings?
A: An email account, a way to download a PDF file, and a Facebook account if you’d like to join our online conversation group. You may want to print the four Weekly Workbooks so a printer and paper are useful, too!

Are there videos in Season’s Eatings?
A: Not yet! We know that video tutorials would be an awesome addition to Skill It & Season’s Eatings. We promise you, when that launches, it will be shared with all our friends and foodies!

  9. Sounds intriguing! We are a vegetarian family (pescetarian to be exact). Do you offer a meat free meal plan?

    • Wendi,
Season’s Eatings is vegetarian! When we include animal products like eggs or dairy, it can be easily left out or you can use a preferred substitute. We’d love to have you join us on the journey!
